Derek Watry

My name is Derek Watry, and I am a 2028 graduate from Xavier High School in Appleton, Wisconsin. As a freshman, I compete on the varsity golf team while maintaining an unweighted 3.9 GPA. Last summer my low tournament score was 78, and I had an average of 83 while securing 1 win and ten top-10 finishes. I am ranked #9 in Wisconsin’s Class of 2028 (Wisconsin.Golf). My main strengths on the course are driving (280 yards) and my putting ability (29 per round).   As a golfer and competitor, I bring a creative mind that helps me envision shots with a very focused mindset on the course. My work ethic, practicing at least 5 days a week, constantly improves my game. I receive instruction from Marcus Holtz at High Cliff Golf Course, which has allowed me to continually elevate my swing mechanics. During the winter months, I improve my game by using an indoor putting green and hitting net. Outside of my competitive golf game, I work at my local course and assist a junior golf program at the local country club – and by doing so, I receive course and practice facility access.   During school, I take my grades very seriously and enroll in multiple honors classes each year. I also play for the Xavier High School basketball team and do 20+ hours of community service each year.   Thank you for taking the time to view my profile.
