Evaluations

2028 Damare Mangram out of Brunswick HS is a true point guard prospect to look out for in the state of Georgia. He does a great job defensively and puts a lot of pressure on the guards full-court, turning them multiple times and causing havoc. He also gets in passing lanes for many steals and loose balls. What really impressed me about him was his high motor and energy off the bench as the 6th man. He changed the game when he got in – both on the offensive and defense end. As soon as he entered, he caught the ball and knocked down a catch-and-shoot 3. Then the next possession, Damare got a steal and passed the ball up the court to an open teammate for an easy lay-up. Brings instant change-in-game and change-of-team energy. He’s fighting for his starting spot with an upperclassman who in my opinion is not the best option for a winning program.   Damare has nice ball handling skills and can blow by any defender due to his quickness and speed with ball. Has a solid crossover or hesitation & go move. Attacks downhill well. Doesn’t dribble the life out of the ball and makes simple 1-2 move combos. He does a great job finishing at the basket with floaters or Euro-step finishes around bigger players. Has a high IQ and great feel for the game with his passing decisions to open teammates and drive kick-outs to shooters. Damare has a consistent shot from outside the arc and a natural shooting form. I was also impressed with his attitude and body language for a player getting subbed out for no reason after making multiple winning plays to get his team back in the lead. Was still cheering for his team on the bench, and responding to coaches in a positive manner.   Damare has great hustle, can shoot the basketball well, handles the ball under pressure, gets downhill to make plays for himself/teammates and is an energy player. Under the right system, he’ll be one of those guys any coach would love to model their program after. He also has a 3.9 GPA in the classroom. — DJ Blanks, ScoutU Basketball Scout, DJ@ScoutU.com, 216-990-8617

Message from Damare

My name is Damare Mangram, and I attend Brunswick High School in Georgia. I will graduate in 2028. I hold a 3.9 GPA and am currently undecided with my college major. In my game, it’s important to know that I am a great defender (on-ball and off ball), an efficient 3-point shooter, hustler, and a great leader.   What makes me unique as a prospect is I’ve been around the game for my entire life. I have a family full of athletes who keep me on track. I always work to find ways to improve my game. I like to get up before school and go find ways to improve. Shooting, training, conditioning, strengthening, and watching game film are things that I do to help me. I think my dedication and discipline stand out above my peers. I really like to focus on my 3-point shooting and ball handling, because I need these skills very much to play at the next level.   My 3.9 GPA highlights my major focus on academics. It has always been crucial for me to stay on top of my academics. I’ve been in AP courses and gifted/advanced placement throughout my entire life. I made A/B Honor Roll for the past 2 years, and before that, A Honor Roll throughout middle school. I also participate in extracurriculars at my school like Student Council, Beta Club and FCA.   Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me as a prospect and checking out my profile.
