Evaluations

5-foot-6, 150 pounds. C/3B/UT. Bats L. Throws R. 1st-Team All-State. Was committed to NCAA D2 school and decided to re-open her recruiting after the coach at that school left. Has pop in bat (66.5 mph exit, 61.6 mph bat speed). No. 3 or 4 hitter. Hits to all fields. Hits line drives and hard ground balls consistently and rarely pops it up. Quick hands and good follow through. Almost never strikes out (9 Ks in 3 years in high school). Looking to improve getting hands through even quicker and better chest angle. Behind the plate (1.91 pop, 58 mph catcher), frames well, keeps pitchers calm and keeps ball in front. Working on improving arm strength and pop time. 60 mph infield velocity. Brings a lot of energy to team. Cheers on teammates and always looking to help teammates out. Strong work ethic (lifts weights, sees hitting coach, often practices on own). Very coachable and competitive. Excellent student (3.94 GPA, 27 ACT; several AP/Honors courses; National Honors Society). — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com

Message from Claire

I am Claire Nelson from Assumption High School in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. I am a 2025 graduate, standing 5-foot-6 and weighing 150 lbs. I am primarily a catcher with my secondary being corner infield, and I can also play outfield. During my junior season, I was named 1st-Team All-State after batting .625 with 15 extra-base hits and 31 RBIs (66.5 mph exit, 61.6 mph bat speed). I also own a 3.94 GPA with a 27 ACT and I intend to major in exercise science.

I hit for a high average, with good gap-to-gap power. I very rarely strike out (9Ks in 3 years in high school), which allows me to move runners. As a catcher, I work hard on my framing and try to be as quiet as possible with my glove and body movements. I am very consistent with my technique in all things that I do. I work with my hitting coach at least one day a week, and I spend a lot of time in the cage. I weight lift three times a week, in addition to speed and agility training once a week. I also play volleyball and basketball, which I play throughout the summer. I have taken AP U.S. History, Honors English, Honors Calculus and Honors Choir. I’m proud to be in the National Honors Society and am the top junior scholar in science. I am a member of student leadership through Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce, Student Council, Pep Club, and Helping Other People Club.

I am passionate about softball and will do the work required to be successful. Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile!
