Message from Chloe

My name is Chloe Luz-Reynosa. I will attend Castro Calley High School next fall and graduate during 2029. I am currently 5-foot and primarily play 2nd base, with my secondary position being shortstop/utility. I maintain a 4.0 GPA as an 8th grader at Canyon Middle School in Castro Valley, CA. I would like to major in Architecture and also coach softball on the side. Something that really stands about me is my leadership and IQ on the field. I am an extension of my coach every time I take the diamond – from the start of the game to the end. I make sure my teammates are ready for each play, make sure they know their coverage, and also make sure we celebrate every play for added inspiration and motivation.

What makes me a special athlete is that when people, fans, coaches and other players come to watch my team play, their eyes all initially focus on the bigger players. No one looks at me at first … but once the game starts, their eyes start gravitating towards me because of my mechanics in throwing and batting, my speed and agility, and my leadership and game IQ. Playing 2nd base, I am in the middle of the field, and I’m able to control in-game the needed adjustments for myself and my teammates.

My work ethic comes from wanting to take advantage of the opportunity to play softball at the next level, from high school to college. In order to get there, I look at my own skill set, and how I can improve from practice to practice, and game to game. My training is very instinctive, where I focus on weak-point training, where I believe in bringing up my weak skills to match my stronger skills, thus making me a better all-around player. I am always a work in progress. During the season, I work out 3-4 times a week, maintaining and focusing on arm care, different throwing slots, speed and agility to maintain my conditioning, and batting practice. I also see a personal coach year-round for hitting and defense. During the offseason, I work out 6 times a week. I credit my father for evaluating my needs and wants and putting it together in a plan. When I’m not improving my own game, I really enjoy coaching at the 8U/10U level. I believe I should share what I’ve learned and achieved with the younger girls so they become the best athlete/student they can be.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about who I am as a student-athlete, and even more so as a person.
