Evaluations

5-foot-11, 145 pounds. RHP/1B. Fastball sits 62-63 mph and touches 65 (hits spots well, hits corners). Excellent control (18 BB in 91 IP in club summer 2024). Best pitch is curveball (60 mph, nasty 2/8 movement, can throw for strikes or out of the zone). Plays for a very good 14U club team (Midwest Speed National) that sometimes plays in 16U and 18U tourneys that feature high-level teams. No. 1 varsity pitcher at large high school as a freshman. Stays calm in pressure situations (sometimes is used as a closer with runners on). 48 mph knuckle changeup (disguises well and can throw for strikes). 2-seam is a newer pitch (looks like a strike and then finishes just outside the zone). Working on a riseball (can be a swing-and-miss pitch when it’s on and rising late, but working on consistency) and dropball (has some drop to it, but working to have more drop). At the plate, is a contact hitter and mostly a pull-hitter with few strikeouts. Excellent teammate. Very competitive (WANTS to win). Very high endurance. Strong work ethic (does pitching workouts and weight/agility training). An enjoyable kid to be around! Very good student (3.86 GPA; advanced in math – taking Geometry and Algebra 2 as sophomore). Interested in mechanical engineering. — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com   Borwege was awarded the Most Valuable Pitcher for tournament champion Midwest Speed 15u National-Hall. Borwege, a RHP that excelled in the circle and at the plate, stands nearly 6-feet tall and is gifted with long levers. Utilizing a smooth repeatable motion and delivery, with great use of her lower half in the drive phase, Borwege showed hitters a mix of fastball, change-up, rise, drop and curve. Topping out at 63 mph, Borwege displayed the ability to work both sides of the plate and showed hitters a tight spinning, late moving curve. In her 24.2 innings of work, Borwege struck out 38, scattered 13 hits, walked none and allowed 3 ER to finish with a 0.90 ERA and 0.53 WHIP.  At the plate, where she also earned top performer status, Borwege collected eight hits that included three doubles and a home run, knocking in nine and scoring seven times. This young lady is a two-way player with a high ceiling and next level skill set. — Perfect Game Elite 16 MN Scout Notes

Message from Brooke

My name is Brooke Borwege, a 2027 pitcher from Bloomington, MN. I’m 6-foot tall (and still growing!) and 145 pounds, and I’ve been playing softball ever since I was little. One thing that makes me unique is my accuracy and my ability to paint the corners while pitching. My current fastball is 65 mph, and I’ve worked to become great at a variety of pitches including a 4-seam, changeup, drop ball, curve ball, rise ball, and a 2-seam fastball.   Another thing that makes me unique is my height, which gives me a strong advantage while playing first base. My long legs help me stretch out and gain extra outs at first, while my crucial ball-tracking skills allow me to pick hard throws out of the dirt. Beyond just physical abilities, I am known for my composure and presence on the rubber, even during the most pressured situations. Through my years of playing, I’ve learned that body language, strong communication and overall chemistry are essential to a successful team, therefore I intend to bring energy and confidence to every game and practice.   Academically, I’m proud to have a 3.8 GPA. When it comes to school, my strong suit is definitely math. This year I am taking both Geometry and Algebra 2 so that I can take Calculus during senior year. I love to be creative, which I think adds another layer to how I approach challenges in school or on the field.   My goals are clear – I want to play softball at the collegiate level while pursuing a strong academic program. I am open to all colleges, but I am particularly searching for a program where I can continue to develop as a player and contribute to a team that values hard work, teamwork and a positive mindset. I’ve been recognized for my efforts on the field, earning All-Conference and All-Section awards as a freshman on varsity, and I’m committed to continuing that level of performance and leadership. What I can offer to a team is more than just my skills on the field; I have a very strong work ethic so when I’m off the field, I am constantly training and looking for ways to make myself better not just for myself, but for my team. I’m dedicated, hardworking and always willing to put in the extra time and effort to make sure I’m performing at my best.   Thank you for taking the time to consider me for your program. I’m excited about the opportunity to be a part of a team that shares my passion and dedication to the game.
