Evaluations

2029 PG Bre Engle from Barbourville High School is only an 8th grader on her varsity team. What really impressed me was her leadership and playmaking abilities at such a young age. She is very good at getting herself past defenders with her ball handling and can shoot the ball very well from all over the court. Has very nice shooting form and is a problem on the defensive end for the opposing team.   She also handles business off the court holding a 3.8 GPA. Bre does need to work on her left-hand finishes, but I see that improving over the next year with more practice. She is very coachable and has the toughness and grit of a future college point guard. Bre will be a name to remember over the next few years, and I expect her to become one of the top guards in the state of Kentucky. — DJ Blanks, ScoutU Basketball Scout, DJ@ScoutU.com, 216-990-8617   I’ve had the privilege to coach Breannah Engle for the last few years. She may be the most competitive player I have ever coached. Some of the things that set Bre apart are her strength, speed, and passion for the game. These skills alone allow her to flourish in a high school game, even against others who are much older. She is an incredible defender who can cover multiple positions on the floor. I often place her on the best ball handler from the other team, because her effort will disrupt their offense. She has a high motor and you cannot wear her out. On offense, Bre is skilled in her understanding of the game. She has an incredible IQ, and understands the game incredibly well for a player of her age. Bre also has an ability to get to the rim at will. She does not shy away from the big moments.   Bre needs to continue working on her consistency with outside shooting. You will often find Bre in the gym, after hours, working on this skill – she is a gym rat. This part of her game has continued to grow. She also needs to work on her defensive positioning. She will sometimes use her hands on defense, leading to fouls. Again, she has improved this area. Bre will also continue on the path she’s on now with her speed and strength. As she advances in competition, others will grow in this area. The good news is that she’s a hard worker.   Bre’s work ethic is top-notch. This is true not only on the court, but in the classroom. She’s dedicated to the work involved to be a fully rounded player. She knows that as a player you have to perform in the classroom. Bre is one of the kindest kids around. She is the first to help up a player from the other team. She also participates in many community outreach projects. Bre is a leader. Even as an 8th grader, she has a voice (a leadership voice) on the high school team. Finally, she is very coachable. She likes to be coached hard. Bre wants to be held accountable and will respond in a positive way. — Amy Shields, Barbourville H.S. Coach

Message from Bre

My name is Bre Engle, and I attend Barbourville City School located in Kentucky. I am a guard in the class of 2029. My GPA is a 3.75, and my desired college major is an Anesthesiology. Some of my accomplishments are the Hype Media Sports All-Star Tournament MVP along with various high school varsity game MVPs as an 8th grader. I’m a standout player due to my strong and aggressive play as a combo guard who’s not afraid of contact. I do not shy away from big moments.   I’m a lockdown defender. I can play various positions on both offense and defense. I’m also very encouraging to my teammates while playing in the game and on the bench. During my off time, I am usually working out, at our boys basketball games cheering them on, or spending time with my friends and family.   Thank you for taking your time to learn more about me, and I hope we can talk in the future!
