Berta Segura

Berta is an exceptional forward with great hold up play, technically sound and gets shots off quickly in front of goal. Her ability to create space in front of goal allows her to convert a very high percentage of shots that she takes, which has earned her the title of “Top Scorer” in multiple leagues that she has played in. Berta is a student of the game with a high soccer IQ and enjoys watching soccer at the professional level. In addition to her soccer abilities, Berta takes her academics very seriously as she would like to study physics or aeronautical engineering in college. Her center forward play has been a revelation this year – She has a strong presence on the ball, holds it up well allowing her to play in teammates, but her ability to score goals is what makes her stand out from the crowd. Her close control and the skill to get off shots quickly with both feet is what has allowed her to average over a goal a game, leading the goalscoring charts with 25 goals in 15 games as a 16-year-old in the top women’s league. Berta can also play as a center back, calm on the ball. She reads the play well, allowing her to break up attacks with the minimum of fuss. Playing as a number 9, Berta consistently demonstrates her ability to lead the line and make critical contributions that often determine the outcome of games. Her ability to secure the ball and bring teammates into the game and arrive into dangerous situations is an asset to any team.   Berta is a highly intelligent player with a strong technical base, qualities that allow her to excel both in and out of possession. She is a constant threat on the field, always meeting the high expectations set for her. Beyond her technical and tactical skills, Berta is a role model in terms of character. Having relocated to Calgary from Spain on her own this season, she has settled in seamlessly and became a key member of the team.
