Evaluations

5-foot-10, 145 pounds. Discus/shot put/javelin. Track and field is her passion, even gets 4 hours of training from college coaches and ex-Olympians at the University of Minnesota every Sunday. Has been throwing since 5th grade. Dad also is a throwing coach and threw in college. Consistent and good discus form (122-4). 29-10.75 shot put — working on a better release; when does have a good release, can throw 35 feet in practice. Solid form in javelin, but doesn’t have a lot of experience or coaching in that event yet. Working on improving overall strength with weight training. Very coachable. Critiques herself. Great teammate. Leader. Very goal-oriented (wants to compete in Olympics). Very good student (3.4 GPA; taking mainly AP courses.). — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com

Message from Avery

My name is Avery Fullerton-Anderson, and I’m heading into my senior year at Wayzata High School in Plymouth, Minnesota. I’m interested in competing in throws at the college level.   My current mark in javelin is 79 feet, 8.75 inches. I also throw discus (122 feet, 4 inches) and shot put (31 feet, 7.5 inches). I picked up javelin just 2 months ago and have been focusing on improving my technique with the basics. As well, I recently attended a camp at the University of Minnesota where I started to reverse and am working on getting lower and more stable in the ring. I’m currently competing in AAU and USATF meets this summer to gain more experience across all three events.   My GPA is 3.4 unweighted and 3.6 weighted. I’ve taken six AP classes and will be taking six more as a senior. I plan to major in criminal justice or legal studies, and I’m aiming to follow a pre-law pathway. I am also active in DECA, BPA and Mock Trial. I’ve qualified for state in all three and was a national qualifier for BPA.   Outside of competition, I train twice a week with a group called Throw North, which includes high school, college and former Olympic throwers. I also lift at the gym several days a week. I take pride in being coachable, consistently applying feedback and asking questions that help me improve. I’m focused on growing as an athlete and committed to building on my strength and technique through consistent training.   I’m hoping to find a college coach who will help me keep improving by setting up a clear and detailed plan for training and nutrition. I’m also looking for a team with a strong, positive culture where athletes support each other and push each other to get better every day. I bring energy, snacks and a strong competitive mindset, both in training and at meets. I want to be part of a program that values development and team contribution.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I would be happy to share more about my background and learn about your program.
