Evaluations

2025 PG/SG Armoni Portis from De La Salle (MI) is a big-time player. This kid has serious game and can do a little bit of everything. The most impressive thing about Armoni is his overall shooting ability on pull-up jump shots, step-backs, catch-and-shoot 3s and Curry-range game winners. The first time watching him play, I noticed his natural PG abilities from attacking with nice assists and directing his teammates to get to their spots. Armoni’s passing ability is high level, as well as his shooting ability.  Another great thing about him is his defensive pressure on ball and anticipation off the ball to create trouble for the other team. He has won a state championship already and has a D1 game, skill set and size.   Armoni is very creative with his dribbling and handles pressure like a polished veteran with a lot of confidence and poise. It’s very easy for him to get to the basket at any time or reach his spots for easy jumpers which are basically automatic. Against Catholic Central, I did not see him miss a single pull-up, and I witnessed him hitting a deep game-winning 3 (heavily contested) like it was nothing. I can tell he has put many years in the gym.   The only things Armoni needs to improve on is getting a little stronger to finish more consistently and generate more And-1 opportunities. If he’s more aggressive, he could average 30-40 points a game. But his natural point guard abilities frequently make the right play. When his team needs him, something clicks and Armoni becomes a relentless bucket-getter! Truly impressed with his game, shooting ability, defense, and poise as a point guard. — DJ Blanks, ScoutU Basketball Scout, DJ@ScoutU.com, 216-990-8617

Message from Armoni

My name is Armoni Portis, and I’m a 2025 G/SF at De La Salle Collegiate High School in Warren, MI. I stand 6-foot-3 and weigh in at 175 pounds. Proudly I have a 3.3 GPA, making me an honor roll student. I am a consistent hardworking student-athlete with a big aspiration to play at the next level (I have received college offers) and pursue a degree in business management/marketing. During my junior season, I averaged 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 deflections and 2 steals in one of the most prolific catholic leagues in the country. I take pride in being a lockdown defender and leader for my team, and I love to get others involved in the game. I’m eager to guard the best man on the floor any day.   It all started at the age of 3, when I first began playing the game l love. I strive to maximize my ability every day and make an impact on anyone I can. I’ve played in many big games on the biggest stages – from becoming a high school state champion to playing on a top-25 nationally ranked AAU team. I believe in our savior God and put my family and education before all. Helping others succeed and showing empathy is also important to me. I believe that helping others is what makes the world a better place. I’m a true student of the game who loves spending time in the community giving back anyway I can.   Thank you for taking your important time to learn about me, and I hope we can talk soon!
