Evaluations

6-foot-6 AJ Austin-Robinson from Cincinnati is a monster and force down low. The 2025 PF weighs 210 pounds with a very strong body and the athleticism to go dunk on anyone, along with the outside shooting ability for pick-and-pop situations. This kid is a double-double machine at any game and a very fun player to watch! He is good on the defensive end with his long frame, stays down on the floor, and anticipates for blocks/steals that lead to easy dunks on the break. AJ is a very good finisher down low and moves players out of the way due to his size and power. One of the most impressive things about his game is his outside shooting ability and form. He has a smooth shot and is very versatile. AJ is also a very strong rebounder and passer, because teams typically tend to double him which leads to him finding the open man.   He currently holds a 3.3 GPA and is a very hardworking kid with a great support system from both his parents. He plays AAU for the Hidden Gems in Columbus (OH), which is about 2 hours from where he lives. This kid loves basketball – I can tell he puts time in the gym by himself without anyone telling him to.   The only things AJ needs to improve on are his endurance and continuing to work on different finishes for the next level, but this will not be too hard for him because he’s eager to learn and put the work in. AJ plays with confidence and is a good teammate as well. He’s going to be perfect for any school wanting a strong PF to hold down the paint and execute catch-and-shoot 3s from pick-and-pop situations. — DJ Blanks, ScoutU Basketball Scout, DJ@ScoutU.com, 216-990-8617

Message from AJ

My name is AJ Austin-Robinson, and I’m a 2025 forward at Clark Montessori School in Ohio. I stand 6-foot-6 and weigh 206 pounds. During my senior year, I averaged 13 points, 11.5 rebounds and shot 56% from the field. I currently hold a 3.3 GPA and am undecided on what major I want to pursue. I’ve been taking college preparatory classes and I’m a member of Future Business Leaders of America.   I try to show toughness and leadership by battling adversity, learning from it to be better and to lift my teammates or peers on and off the court. I think it’s crucial to show coaches that I will battle through adversity on the court and always keep a positive attitude even when stuff isn’t going right. I make sure that I always leave it all on the floor and not get tired because basketball is a mental game. I show toughness and leadership by trying to set an example for my teammates.   Basketball has taught me to be a better person, and I always try my best to help out the community using basketball. I’ve taught kids over the summer at our school’s camps as a guide to help them with their games, and I also referee for our annual 3v3 tournament during the fall. I try to always acknowledge others and give people my full attention. I am ready to learn and always appreciate input from others.   Thank you coach for taking time out of your day to view my profile, and hopefully we can talk soon!
