Evaluations

5-foot-5, 130 pounds. RHP/OF. R./R. Won’t blow you away with velocity (59, low 60s on fastball), but has excellent spin and movement on pitches and relies on good location and mixing pitches and speeds. Very good stride and gets good whip. Smart pitcher. Stays calm. Curveball is best pitch (57.5 mph with 1334 spin and 7.2-inch vertical break, locates well, can throw for strikes with excellent accuracy anywhere in the zone or as a chase pitch). Fastball (can vary speeds) has 5.7-inch vertical break (measured by Rapsodo) and 2.3-inch horizonal break. Riseball is 55.3 mph with 1380 spin and 4.2-inch horizontal break (can locate inside or outside). Screwball is 56.4 mph (893 spin, 4.3 vertical, 2.9 horizontal) and often uses on slappers. Can throw changeup (48 mph, 789 spin, 3.1 vertical, 3.6 horizontal) in any count and can throw for strikes or in dirt. Working on a dropball and better command on all pitches. At the plate, is a contact hitter, good bunter with good speed (3.02 20-yard dash). Rarely strikes out. When makes contact, hits the ball hard (67 mph exit). Working on having a more balanced and consistent swing. Is a PO, so not much experience in the OF. Team player. Coachable. Learns from mistakes. Determined and looks to get better every practice and game. Sees a pitching coach once a week. 3.34 GPA. Looking to major in physical therapy or veterinary. — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com   I’ve had the privilege of coaching Addisyn Petersen for the past couple of years. Addisyn is an outstanding softball pitcher with a remarkable skill set that sets her apart from her peers. One of Addisyn ‘s most striking qualities is her unwavering competitive spirit. She approaches every game and practice with an unparalleled level of determination and commitment. Her drive to succeed is truly inspiring, and it has been a pleasure to witness her growth as a player and a person.   In terms of pitching, Addisyn possesses above average velocity and athleticism. Her ability to deliver powerful and precise pitches puts her in a league with the top-tier pitchers. She has a good understanding of the game and an innate ability to get out of jams when needed using her velocity, making her an invaluable asset on the mound.   However, Addisyn’s talents extend beyond her pitching skills. She is a tremendous team player. Her leadership on and off the field has a positive impact on her teammates, motivating them to give their best effort. Addisyn’s versatility allows her to contribute as an outfielder as well, with her strong and well balanced swing adding even more depth to her game.   I wholeheartedly recommend Addisyn Petersen to any softball program that’s in search of a great pitcher, dedicated teammate, relentless worker and a highly coachable athlete. Addisyn ‘s passion for the sport and her unwavering commitment to improvement make her an exceptional addition to any team. I have no doubt that she will continue to excel in her softball career and be a valuable asset to any program fortunate enough to have her. — Chris Addante, CTW U18-AA Premier Travel Coach

Message from Addisyn

I am Addisyn Petersen and I’m a 2025 graduate of Burlington Central High School in Illinois. My cumulative GPA is 3.4, and I am planning to take the SAT/ACT in spring 2024. I am a 5-foot-4 RHP, and I also play in the outfield. In college, I am looking to major in Physical Therapy or Veterinary Medicine. I’ve been blessed with an athletic physique, which has allowed me to consistently pitch in the upper 50s, and have touched low 60s. While I am grateful for those velocities, I pride myself in my high spin rates (1380 on riseball, 1334 on curveball) and movement (7.2-inch vertical break on curveball, 4.2 horizontal on rise, 5.7 vertical on fastball).   As an athlete, I strive to remain grounded, unselfish and humble. I am a keen student of the game and am quick-witted with my reactions to the game. I am often described as coachable, bubbly, and fiercely competitive. When I am not competing on the field, I am working to improve my craft. I have been working with a regionally renowned pitching coach for 5 years. She has helped dozens of softball pitchers realize their college dreams and has a passion for this game I’m in awe of.   Concurrently, I regularly work with a hitting coach to help me attain my offensive goals. I take my physical conditioning seriously – I have learned the value of maintaining a strong body to help minimize potential injuries and keep my stamina as high as possible. My brother and I practice together when our schedules allow, and we push each other to give our very best to the game. Outside of softball, I enjoy teaching the game to younger players. I see myself coaching beyond college and with my own children someday. Being a role model to young women is inspirational and spiritually rewarding for me. It helps me stay grounded and in touch with my love for the game.   Thank you for taking the time to consider me for your program. I realize you have hundreds – if not thousands – of very talented young women looking to join your team. I am grateful for your consideration. If given an opportunity, I assure you, you will not be disappointed.
