Miley Donaldson has dreamed about playing college softball since she was a little girl. Now a senior, she’s ensured that goal becomes reality with her commitment to play for Williston State College.

“What stood out about Williston State was the atmosphere,” Donaldson said. “Everyone was super welcoming and friendly and made me feel right at home even before they knew I was committing. After all these years of hard work and dedication being put into softball, it’s finally coming to use. I can’t wait to see where college softball takes me.”

The Tetons are getting a defender with quick reflexes and strong footwork at first base. Donaldson was named her school’s Athlete of the Year four times from 2021-24.

“College coaches were drawn to Miley because of her strong combination of athletic ability, work ethic and communication,” ScoutU’s Susan Kemper said. “She stayed in regular contact with me, consistently used her ScoutU tools, and showed genuine commitment to the recruiting process. On the field, she’s a reliable and confident defender with strong game awareness and leadership presence, while her consistent offensive production adds value at the plate. Off the field, her discipline and academic focus reflect a student-athlete who can balance responsibilities and perform under pressure. Miley’s maturity, coachability and steady effort made her a clear fit for the next level.”

Hailing from Alberta, Canada, Donaldson needed some help getting noticed by programs in the United States. She ended up receiving 7 offers before committing to WSC.

“Since enrolling in ScoutU, I’ve had 20 colleges call me. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me throughout this process!” Donaldson said.

“Whenever Miley had a question or concern – whether it was big or small – Susan Kemper was always there to assist,” Miley’s mom Heather said. “Even though Miley had an injury at the start of the process, Susan never gave up on giving Miley encouragement and guidance throughout the whole process.”
