While Pace University was recruiting 2026 prospect Sienna Stawiecki, the Setters were in the midst of their best season in program history. That made it that much easier for Stawiecki to commit to Pace, who reached the NCAA Division II Final Four last May.
“Ever since I was a little girl, I knew that I wanted to play at a highly competitive level,” Stawiecki said. “When I first got an email from Pace University and researched the school, I saw it was D2. When following along their journey, I soon realized their competitive atmosphere was something I wanted to be a part of. Pace is nationally ranked (#4) with a highly competitive nature, which was what I wanted in a softball team. When I realized they were interested in me and I received an offer after their camp, I was over the moon. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to play at such a high D2 level, as well as continue a great academic career for myself, as Pace is in the top 3% of nursing schools in NY.”
The Setters finished last season with an undefeated (20-0) conference record, 48-13 overall mark and an NCAA Super Regional Championship. Growing up about 140 miles away in Massachusetts, Stawiecki immediately fit in with the New York school.
“Pace just felt like home from the minute I stepped on campus to watch a softball game,” she said. “The close-knit community, the beauty of campus and the atmosphere really stuck out to me. I was immediately welcomed by locals as if I’ve been there my whole life. I’m glad to share that my future home is an amazing atmosphere to be in.”
A threat in both phases of the game, Stawiecki throws a fastball in the low 60s. She also batted .525 with 4 home runs last club season.
“College coaches were drawn to Sienna for her rare combination of elite pitching mechanics, competitive mindset, and leadership on and off the field,” ScoutU’s Susan Kemper said. “She’s a true self-starter who’s driven, focused and constantly seeking ways to elevate her game. Her ability to command the circle, contribute at multiple positions, and maintain academic excellence made her a standout prospect for the collegiate level.”
Stawiecki still has her senior year in front of her, but she won’t have to worry anymore about finding the right college. Her family is thankful that ScoutU guided Sienna to achieving her college softball dream.
“Susan Kemper helped in Sienna’s recruiting process by breaking down the percentages of college athletes in each division, as well as the chances that high school athletes make it to college softball,” Sienna’s dad Nathan said. “She also helped Sienna set up an NCAA eligibility number and how to respond to college coaches. Without ScoutU, Sienna would have never figured out Pace as a school and softball program.”
