Maddie Geiver was ready to transition to the next step of her career, but she needed to feel comfortable both on and off the court. After receiving over 60 calls from college coaches and narrowing down her options, Geiver decided to play for Black Hills State University in South Dakota.

“Black Hills State was ultimately my decision not only because of the gorgeous campus, but because of the absolutely amazing people,” Geiver said. “The campus was just what I was looking for and I would’ve never found it without ScoutU. The coaches and players made it feel like it was a home away from home – with their friendly personalities that matched mine. Another big factor was their style of play matching my skills.”

The Yellowjackets, an NCAA Division II program, have won 58 games over the past three seasons. Geiver will fit right into that winning culture after leading Brandon Valley High School to the state final each of the last 2 years.

“I’m so excited that Maddie found a great college fit for her!” ScoutU’s Jason Lauren said. “With her size, physical play and being an outstanding shot blocker and rebounder, I’m sure she will excel at Black Hills State. It was a pleasure helping with her recruiting, and I wish her the very best of luck in the future!”

Geiver, who totaled more than 100 rebounds and 20 blocks this year, was named to the 2024 State All-Tournament Team. At 6-foot-2, she always had the size to be a great player. Geiver’s dedication to improving her ball handling and jump shot is what made her a scholarship-worthy recruit.

“I am so ecstatic to have the opportunity to play the game I love at the next level,” she said. “The years of dedication into getting to the next level has all paid off, and I’m so excited that this journey is continuing. I have always dreamed of playing college basketball and now that this opportunity is here, I am so excited.”

Geiver has already had a decorated basketball career, but she knows she’s just begun tapping into her potential. ScoutU is proud of her achievements and will be watching her journey closely at Black Hills State.

“We can’t say enough good things about Jason and his team at ScoutU,” said Maddie’s father, Matt. “From the first meeting, the knowledge and information that Jason shared was invaluable to Madison’s recruiting journey. The process ScoutU has for athletes and parents makes it easy to contact coaches and brings in so many options for obtaining a chance to play at the next level. Without Jason and ScoutU, it would have been a long confusing journey.”
