Throughout her high school career, Ava Mau showed the potential to play at the highest college level. Before becoming a ScoutU prospect, she even thought of giving up soccer and going to school solely for academics. But after exploring all of her options in the Midwest, Mau recently committed to Indiana University-Indianapolis.

“I am beyond grateful to have this opportunity to play in college, especially at the Division I level,” Mau said, “I never thought my dreams on playing collegiate soccer would come true until they did, and I cannot wait to see where this team takes me.”

Mau (Kaukauna, Wis.) had around 200 communications with college coaches, thoroughly researching where the best fit for her would be.

“Ava is an outstanding athlete,” ScoutU’s Jason Lauren said. “She also was a kicker on the football team. She’s a goal-scorer and leader. Ava is a great student and is planning on majoring in pre-med. I’m sure she will excel not only on the field but also in the classroom at Indiana-Indianapolis!”

In addition to receiving honorable mention on the FVA All-Conference Team and being named team captain, Mau holds a 3.9 GPA. It was the chance to get a great education that brought IUI to the forefront.

“The academics stood out – they have the accommodations to fit what a student-athlete is all about,” Mau said. “They understand both time commitments and give the resources to help manage it.”

Mau’s ascent to major college prospect began with her 12 goals in 20 games as a sophomore. She then teamed up with ScoutU, which ensured that she would find the best opportunities at the next level.

“Jason Lauren was very informative for all of our questions, and the resources he provided to us were endless,” Ava’s father Jeff said.
