evaluations

Leigha James is a 2021 C/OF from Griffin, GA. She has a strong arm and good glove control with a sub-2 pop time. Quick to her feet to play the short game. She is a 6-7 hole-type hitter with sub-3 speed up the line. She leads her team in stolen bases and frequently steals 3rd. Leigha is a well-mannered kid with endless intangibles. Great attitude, extremely hard working and will make a valuable asset to any team. — Scott Woodcock, ScoutU Scout & Midway University Assistant Coach, 423-255-3106 (cell), Scott@ScoutU.com

MESSAGE FROM LEIGHA

My name is Leigha James, and I’m a 2021 graduate of Spalding High School in Georgia. I’ve been the varsity starter in centerfield since sophomore year. For my travel team, Georgia Fire, I’ve been primarily the catcher but played CF as my secondary position. I also compete in gymnastics as well. Hands down, softball will always be the main thing I would chose to do and it has that spot in my heart. My overhand velocity is 57-60 MPH, and my pop time is consistently around 1.8 seconds. Academics are also extremely important, so when I’m in a classroom setting I put as much work and focus as I do on the field. Since my freshman year, I’ve maintained a GPA of 3.8. I’ve received many academic awards over the years, and I plan to take the ACT or SAT once it can be rescheduled. I am what I believe is a true-hearted athlete, and I’ve learned the importance of time management, staying on the very top with my studies, keeping my body healthy and in shape. Achieving your goals is not quick work, and it isn’t easy either. This is where the hard work, dedication and determination become factors. I always was told by my coaches that my leadership, work ethic, high energy, passion and attitude are what make me their stand-out player and a role model for younger girls on my team. I always want to learn new techniques, because I am up for any challenge. I’m a very competitive young lady and will always put my best into anything that’s given to me, while putting my best effort into helping my team be successful. Anytime I fall, I get back up, shake things off and try going again. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to consider me as a viable prospect for your program. I truly do appreciate it and hope we can talk soon.
