FIRST LAST PORTAL

Dear ScoutU prospect and parents:

Welcome to ScoutU! For this effort to be a success, each party involved has a responsibility. ScoutU’s role is to create the profile, counsel you through the recruiting process, market you through email campaigns, edit your video, etc. Your role is to submit the necessary information to ScoutU so we can perform our services, inform us of your recruiting progress, send us updates for your profile, follow our advice and provide the video footage. Your responsibility is to make good grades, continue to improve your athletic abilities and stay out of trouble. When everyone meets his or her responsibility, the recruiting process goes smoothly.

We will make every effort to follow your progress and to keep in touch. We keep you aware of what you should do and when. Please return our calls, texts or e-mails promptly so we may keep information flowing.  If you think we have been out of touch for too long, contact your ScoutU scout or contact Owner/Scout Jason Lauren (414-303-7607, Jason@ScoutU.com).  Parents who keep in touch find their experience with ScoutU much more successful.

Once ScoutU receives the necessary profile information, we will create your personal website and contact you once it’s live. If you see any errors or want something changed, please let us know through an email (updates@ScoutU.com).

If you haven’t already done so, please “like” and “follow” us on social media (Facebook.com/ScoutUrecruiting, Twitter.com/ScoutUrecruit, Instagram.com/ScoutUrecruiting), so we can tag you on posts you are mentioned in and see recruiting tips and recruiting rules updates.

Below is where you can find what services you have done and have left, the forms to submit the services, many tips on how to utilize the ScoutU program and recruiting tips.

If you have any questions, please contact us. We wish you the best of luck in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

COLLEGE COACH EMAIL TRACKING

This shows which college coaches opened your email and how many times and also which coaches clicked on your profile link and how many times for the Exposure services that have been performed. Click on the Exposure below to view the results.

The schools that opened it the most times and/or clicked on your profile are schools you should look into and call/email ASAP. This list does NOT mean they are necessarily interested in you or will make you an offer.  It does show that they are at least intrigued by your video/profile. When emailing them, make sure you mention your top stats/accomplishments and your ScoutU website in it (ScoutU.com/XXXXXXXXXX), so they are more likely to remember you.

You should reach out to the schools at the top of the list, but the more you contact, the better!

Do NOT mention to college coaches that we sent you this information of how many times they opened it. We wanted to provide you with this list, so you could be as proactive as possible in going after these schools, and some coaches may not like that we can tell how many times they opened the email and that we are sharing this info with you. In the file, you will see their email addresses. For their phone numbers, go to the school’s athletic website and look up the athletic department directory.

Look into the school on their website to learn more about them (also go to collegeboard.com to find out more info on the school) and ask specific questions about their school/team. Refer to the Questions to Ask for some sample questions. Obviously, don’t ask too many questions, just a few to start to open up the communication between you and the coach.

YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS

Below is the email address you will use for all ScoutU Exposure Services. We will send out your Exposure Services using this email address, so all college coach replies will go to this email address. This email also should be used as your primary email with your ScoutU Scout and ScoutU. ScoutU will have access to this email to offer any possible advice if necessary. Using this email will keep all your recruiting emails in one place to make it easier to organize and will prevent your recruiting emails from getting lost with personal/junk emails.

YOUR WEBSITE

TO MAKE YOUR WEBSITE LIVE

1) Fill out your profile info at ScoutU.com/questionnaire (note the required fields on the form)
2) Send action photo (color and high resolution) to updates@ScoutU.com
3) Send headshot photo (color and high resolution) to updates@ScoutU.com
4) Send Personal Essay to updates@ScoutU.com (go to ScoutU.com/personal-essay-guideline for tips on what to write)
5) Your ScoutU Scout evaluation (your ScoutU Scout will send this in)

THINGS THAT CAN BE ADDED AFTER YOUR WEBSITE GOES LIVE

1) Stats and skills numbers
2) Coach evaluation(s)
3) Schedule(s)
4) Video (it is HIGHLY recommended to have video on your website before any ScoutU Exposure Services are performed, because the college coach response rate will be MUCH lower and the Exposure Services will be less effective if you have no video on your website)

WEBSITE UPDATES

To be effective, the prospect must submit updates as often as possible. Coaches prefer to see profiles with new information. Suggestions are as follows:

  • Awards, honors, outstanding game performances, season statistics, etc.
  • Video — at least once every 1 year
  • Pictures – at least once every 1 year
  • New ACT or SAT scores (Always submit test scores by sections)
  • Changes in academic standing, weight, height

Submit all non-video website updates to: updates@ScoutU.com

See how to submit video here: ScoutU.com/how-to-submit-and-shoot-video

RECRUITING PROCESS REMINDERS
Throughout the recruiting process, keep the following in mind:

  • Make sure EVERYTHING on your website is up to date. Email the updates to updates@ScoutU.com. College coaches want to see as up-to-date of information as possible.
  • Is your video up to date? If it is more than 1 year old or no longer represents your current abilities, it needs to be updated. You want to make sure your video represents your abilities, because that’s how the colleges are going to initially evaluate you.
  • Are you keeping up with contacts from college coaches? Reply to their contacts ASAP (no longer than 1 week after they contact you). A reply email can be something as simple as, “Thanks for replying to my email coach. I look forward to learning more about (insert school name).” Refer to the Questions To Ask College Coaches for some sample questions to get the communication started with that school. And, obviously, answer any questions they have.
  • For colleges that are showing the most interest in you and you are also interested in, email them every 1-2 weeks updating them on what you’ve done the last 1-2 weeks (stats, events played in, how your team is doing, workouts, etc.) and what you have coming up in the next 1-2 weeks. Colleges are more likely to make offers to athletes that show an interest in their school.
  • Update your ScoutU Scout on the recruiting interest you are getting. This includes schools you’ve had back-and-forth email communications with, what schools you’ve had phone conversations with, campus visit offers, schools that have come seen you play, schools you’ve visited/plan on visiting and schools that have made you offers.
  • Confer with your ScoutU Scout before attending any college camps, clinics or individual showcase events. Your Scout can offer you any necessary advice on if it’s a valuable event for you to attend or if it’s likely to be a waste of time/money.
